Affinity Designer – Convert Hi-Resolution Vector Art to Web-Resolution PNG File
While this post shows how to export high resolution in Affinity Designer, it is specifically about transforming tall 12″ X 16″ 300dpi high-resolution t-shirt vector art into square 300px X 300px 72ppi low-resolution PNG graphic for the Web (while maintaining the best quality at the smaller 300px 72ppi size). NOTE: the first step, “Make dimensions SQUARE”, may or may not apply to your artwork.

1. Make dimensions SQUARE
- Affinity Designer > File > Document Setup:
- Change 12” x 16” to 16” x 16”
- Objects will: Anchor to page
- Click OK
2. REDUCE dimensions for Web
- Affinity Designer > File > Document Setup:
- Document units: Pixels
- Dimensions: 300px X 300px
- DPI: 72dpi
- Objects will: Rescale
- Resample: Lanczos 3 (non-separable)
- Click OK
3. EXPORT for Web
- Affinity Designer > File > Export:
- Tab: PNG
- Size: 300px X 300px
- Resample: Lanczos 3 (non-separable)
- More button: UN-tick “Embed metadata” (then click Close)
- Click Export button
4. Finally, do NOT accidentally save the document in this altered state
- Affinity Designer > File > Close > Click “Don’t Save”
