It is better to delete files from inside FCP X, rather than the Finder; because that could break FCP X. Inside FCP X, open a library that you are DONE working with, select the Library in the Library List, then choose File > Delete Generated Library Media. Select render files and proxies, but not Optimized Media. This will delete a lot of the work files you no longer need.
